The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me.
My choice. For you.
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
* I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
* What I create will be with you in mind.
* It'll be done sometime this year (2009)
* You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be something written, some physical thing made, a mix CD, could be anything at all, but I will make it myself. It's entirely my choice what it is. No quibbles, no refunds.
Oh, and the catch is that you put this in your journal as well. If you don't, you don't get anything. |

So I've been training Jiu-Jitsu for awhile now -- since September 15th, with roughly a few weeks off here and there. I love it. It's fun, physical and getting beat up isn't so bad. I've got a year contract which expires .... Sept. 15th. (shocking I know.) So, I've decided that I'll stay in the city till September of 2009. If I can't find a decent full-time job before September, I'll go home to my parents place. Save some money, pay off my student loan, who knows what else.
I don't want to be part of 'the boomerang generation' but FFS: San Francisco is royally expensive, and the East Bay isn't that much cheaper.

Amelia's tea party was fun. Met some cool people, made some outdoor friends. Ate a burrito. Now wanting to sleeeep. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the morning, then the Knockout in the evening. Should be a good weekend.

So... the last paper is about under wraps. The last portfolio has been put away, and there's dark room equipment strewn about my room. One of my cameras lies in a half-working state after a trip across the world, another is on loan to a good friend. I've embraced ideas and philosophies foreign to me only 3 years ago. I've met many wonderful people, charmed a few, and downed god knows how many pints of black & tan. I worked for a mega corporation selling stuff and feeling like a shill. I've driven the 280 and the 85 more times than I care to recount. My time in the wonderful city of San Francisco feels like it is coming to a close. Three years, and a BA in photography later I find these truths to be (mostly) self-evident: -I'm not smarter -I'm not wiser -I'm 25k in debt -I have a receeding hairline -I'm not more fit -I still take shitty pictures -I eat out too much -I don't call home enough -I miss my friends in Santa Cruz -I miss living rent free -I've come a long way, baby -The SF Skyline from the 280, 80 and GG bridge will always be familiar and comforting.
The end result of my labors? Not knowing where to call home. |

I know frost has a little pac man noise for his incoming SMS messages, and part of that "stayin' alive" song for a ring tone.
I've found a few odd ones -The ring from 'Crank' where the phone rings more and more slowly -One Heavy Februrary by Architecture in Helsinki -You're the Best Around by Joe Eposito -The office theme -the CTU phone ring
What do you guys have for ring tones? Any weird custom ones? |

In the next two weeks I need to: -Write a 10 page paper (no big.) -Finish 3 Separate portfolios consisting of 10-15 images each (kind of a big deal) -15 minute power point presentation on photographers who have influenced me -Website -Portfolio Box / Folio -Study for an exam.
I *think* I can do this....

| Nikon d200: How you suck. |
[Nov. 21st, 2008|10:04 pm] |
I bought a Nikon d200 for school almost a year ago. It has served my purposes up until this point. I want to do some night photography, but the sensor on this camera is notorious for having poor low light performance. Throwing caution to the wind, I set out to test its performance on a shoot in Monterey. Needless to say, the shadows are blocked up.
Fucking Nikon. The d300 outperforms this camera by leaps and bounds -- the d700 is a revolution in terms of performance. Don't get me started on the d3. That thing is a beast way out of my price range.
Long story short - do your homework! Sometimes you get what you pay for.
